About Jill Love Phoenix

Jill Phoenix is an E-RYT 200, RYT 500, Level One Kundalini Yoga Instructor, and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.

I am one of five children, my siblings are all brothers, and I’m originally from Omaha, Nebraska. Although long estranged, I am the daughter of a mother who suffered from extreme mental disorders including Bi-Polar and Paranoid Schizophrenia. Unfortunately due to her mental illness, I was the product of abuse, neglect, abandonment and eventually became emancipated as a legal adult at 15 years old.  As a teenager, I suffered from anorexia and disordered eating behaviors as a result of my traumatic upbringing, and also used substances for a part of my life. I have also gone through two divorces, both to men who were in addictive addiction.
Fortunately I was first introduced to yoga with a Rodney Yee VHS tape in 1998 on a mat in my living room. Although my practice was sporadic for many years while traveling the country, with my wonderful companion Love, who was a German Shepherd/Malamute/Wolf mix and living a lifestyle that didn’t support self-care, yoga was always there in some way, either through mindful breathing or doing a few asanas every day.
I decided to not only continue being a student of yoga, but was called to share the teachings with others. I completed a 200 hour teacher training program and a Level One Kundalini Teacher training program through Kundalini Research Institute. I have also studied Yoga and Meditation in Nepal, India, and Bali.

To say I have fallen in love with yoga, is an understatement! I credit it to saving my life and helping me find my true direction and purpose in life. Teaching and practicing the physical asanas are only a small part of the path, as I  truly believe in living a yogic lifestyle. I am a self-professed “yoga nerd” and love to continue to learn and share the teachings and wisdom of yoga with others. I am also  nearing completion of a 500 hour RYT, and I am also training to be certified in Thai Yoga Bodywork.

I consider myself to be in recovery from Disordered Eating as well as living a sober lifestyle. I have been interested in nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits since I was 18, just as I went into recovery from Anorexia. I have self studied for over 22 years and then decided to take the plunge and enrolled in the Institute For Integrative Nutrition and I am an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. My own health struggles dealing with the repercussions of antibiotics as a child and the after effects of eating disorders, have led me through years of self research to heal my own digestive disorders. I have experimented with multiple nutritional healing protocols and have had success at healing my own body.

I am happy to say that I have a healthy and supportive relationship for the first time in my life with my love, Kevin, and we share a home with his college age son, Brendan, in the Asheville, North Carolina area, in the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains.

I choose to share my true background with you, because I am a believer in being authentic. I know I am not alone and that there is no reason to sugar coat my life. I decided to become a Health Coach because our health doesn’t just revolve around what we look like or what we eat. It has to do with all of our aspects of our lives; our past, present, and future. Our relationships, our careers and goals, our financial security-it all matters. I am here to be a guide on your journey to the healthiest and highest version of you.
