Have you been thinking of trying a different style of Yoga? Heard of Kundalini but have thought it might be “too much” or “too hard”? Well I’m here to personally invite you to come try it. I promise it’s doable for EVERYONE and EVERY BODY. I’ve heard people use the term “intimidating “ when they hear the word Kundalini. And it makes me cringe. Can it be intense? Yes. Can it be extremely energizing? Yes. But, it can also be subtle and most importantly, it’s always effective. The most empowering moments in my life have been when I’ve been up against the blocks my mind has placed in front of me and pushing through them. Kundalini helps to strengthen the nervous system and to bring balance to the mind so that you are always prepared for what the world places in front of you. Lifting your consciousness to the highest plane and keeping the glandular systems of the body in perfect health. Still not sure? What can it hurt to find out for yourself? • Join me Thursday afternoons from 4-5:15 for Kundalini Yoga and a Gong Bath Relaxation. • • • #jillphoenixyoga #westasheville ##westashevilleyogastudio #westashevilleyoga #ashevillekundaliniyoga #ashevilleyoga #yogaasheville #ashevillehappenings #828isgreat
Oh lovelies of Asheville, you have no idea just how excited I am to bring this luxurious and snuggly class to you on Thursday nights from 7:15-8:30! No previous yoga experience or fancy pants needed. Literally come as you are, pj’s are acceptable. This style of yoga is primarily done on the floor either seated or lying down with the assistance of props. While other styles of yoga target strength and incorporate more active postures, Yin yoga is a quieter and more internal practice designed to give the body the opportunity to switch to the rest and digest part of our nervous system. It also is beneficial to helping lengthen muscles while allowing precious fluids to lubricate the joints and fascia. Add in a restorative Gong Bath Relaxation and soft candles in this warm and inviting space and you’re set up for one beautiful nights sleep. And if all of that isn’t great enough, how about you can pay what you want or can afford? Yep, not kidding. I hope you’ll come give yourself this opportunity to decompress and practice self care this Thursday and every Thursday at Everybody Yoga, 1145 Tunnel Road. • • • #jillphoenixyoga #everybodyyoganc #asheville #ashevillenc #ashevilleyoga #yogaasheville #yinyoga #yinyogaasheville #candlelightyinyoga #whywouldyoumissthis #nurtureyourselffromwithin #selfloveasheville#yogaforrecovery #ashevillerecovery #828isgreat #828 #localasheville #golocalasheville #digasheville #thingstodoinadheville

I am SO excited to offer this class starting NEXT Thursday December 5th at Everybody Yoga, in East Asheville. Join me every Thursday from 7:15-8:30 to unwind from the day and prepare the mind and body for sleep. This class is available for all levels of practitioners including beginners and is accessible for ALL bodies. This quiet practice is designed to soothe the nervous system, and to target the connective tissues of the body-the fascia, tendons, and ligaments-to encourage lengthening and flexibility in the muscles and circulation in the joints. A more passive and meditative practice with longer holds on the floor in seated and reclined positions with the assistance of props to support and encourage the muscles to relax in order for the deeper stretch to happen. Soft candlelight and a restorative Gong Bath Shavasana activate the parasympathetic nervous system- the rest and digest system-to send you off feeling rested, restored, and rejuvenated. • ALL classes at this beautiful studio are a Pay What You Can model based on what you can afford that day💕 • • • #jillphoenixyoga #everybodyyoganc #yinyoga #yinyogalove #yinyogalove #asheville #ashevillenc #ashevilleyoga #ashevillelocal #ashevillenorthcarolina #visitasheville #ashevilleevents #ashevillelife #ashevilleadventures #828isgreat #828 #ashevillehappenings #yogaforrecovery #ashevillerecovery #yogaforall #gongbath #yinyogagong #eastasheville #thingstodoinasheville #thingstodoinashevillenc #selfcare #selflove #selfcareasheville
Oh, how I love Pema Chodron. Funny how a quote comes along when you need it. I’ve really resonated with her teachings for years and so much so that I’ve driven to her Abbey in Pleasant Bay, Nova Scotia twice, simply to just be there and meditate. I don’t even think she was there either time, but it didn’t matter. The peace and love and wisdom is in the land and her words. I love reminders to let go of our judgements of our own emotions and to simply FEEL them. With compassion. I’ve felt slightly pulled away from my Spiritual connection with Buddhist teachings as I’ve explored other teachings, but lately I’ve been coming back “home” and it just feels right. I’m not a religious person, never have been. There are too many teachers for me to fit into one box and so much wisdom to explore. And aren’t we fortunate for that?! #jillphoenixyoga #yogaforrecovery #yogainspiration #pemachodron #buddhistteachings #itsnotaboutreligion #itsaboutbeinghuman #feelyourfeelings #liveyourtruthalways #walkyourpath #hugyourselfdaily #authenticity #authenticself #boundariesareselfcare #beselffullnotselfish
This quote just crossed my feed when I needed it most. Lately I’ve been experiencing anger, frustration, grief and just sheer exhaustion. (To be fair.. I also experience love, joy, gratitude, and peace! But that’s another post someday..) I used to think being angry showed signs of weakness. The “never let them see you sweat” way of thinking. Hell, if got me this far in life after all. For those of you who don’t know me or my “story”, I’m a trauma survivor and an ACE survivor. (Adverse Childhood Experiences.. if you’re not sure, google it..) I experienced years of abuse and neglect and have taken care of myself since childhood. Throw in a couple failed marriages; one where I suffered years of verbal, emotional, and physical abuse. I kept it all to myself for the most part. I’ve always shoved my anger down deep into my belly, thinking not only did it show weakness, but as a “positive person” and most recent years, the “Yogini” persona I completely embrace and do my best to live, you just “don’t show anger”. Years ago my therapist I was seeing brought it to my attention that I need to embrace my anger and hold it close as if it were my younger self that I was trying to console. She told me of a quote similar to this one by Thay and it stuck. The last two weeks have really triggered me on deep levels. I’ve experienced feelings that resemble childhood experiences that deeply scarred me. I thought they were healed. Well, this weekend I attended a Trauma Informed Yoga workshop and years of grief and stress and deep seeded pain came right up to say “I’m still here”. It’s interesting to sit with great pain and trauma and try to be accepting of it. I’m apparently not ever going to be a professional poker player, because it’s been brought to my attention by people close to me that I’ve been displaying energy different than my norm. What was never investigated or approached, was if I was ok or needed to talk. Just that I wasn’t being myself and seemed to be affecting others apparently in a negative way. This did not help the anger festering inside. In fact, it caused it to escalate. ...CONTINUED in comments ...,
